- Augustana's distance medley relay teams ran to All-American finishes on day one of the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. Both men's and women's squads placed sixth in the loaded fields to give eight athletes All-American honors.

The men's squad of Henrik Hansson, Skyler Kuil, Aduo Omot, and Harald Karbo earned an automatic qualifying mark to place themselves in the 12-team field. The Vikings ran to sixth place for their third All-American finish in four years.

Hansson led the Vikings off in the 1,200-meter leg, running a 3:04.05 to put the Vikings in fourth. Taking the baton, Kuil made his national-meet debut with a 49.90 400-meter split keeping Augustana in the top five.

Running the 800-meter leg, Omot kept the Vikings within All-American finish range with a 1:54.59 time in his portion of the relay. Karbo took the baton for the final 1,600 meters and clocked a 4:08.89 split to give Augustana a 9:57.31, just 0.03 seconds behind fifth place.

The women's team of Emma Anderson, Carina Hofmeister, Kayla Mescher, and Kyle Blakeslee kept their All-American finish streak alive, taking sixth in the 13-squad field.

Anderson opened the Vikings with a 3:43.66 1,200-meter leg, putting the Vikings in ninth before the second portion. Hofmeister made her first NCAA Championship appearance count with a 56.87-second 400 meters which pushed the Vikings back into the top eight.

Mid-distance specialist Mescher erased another spot for the Vikings with a 2:14.21 split in the 800-meter leg. Blakeslee notched her second All-American DMR finish with a 4:55.35 1,600-meter leg and put the Vikings in sixth with a total time of 11:50.07.

All eight DMR athletes collect All-American honors and earned three points for the Vikings in both team scores.

Hansson and Omot started the day off with the 800-meter run, but neither was able to earn a spot in tomorrow's finals. Omot jumped out to lead after the first two laps, but couldn't hold it to earn the automatic spot in the final.
