YANKTON, S.D. – Amy Paulzine posted three top-three finishes as she and the South Dakota State women's track and field team competed at the USD Snowbird Saturday in Yankton, S.D. En route to her finishes today, Pauzline posted two personal-best throws and won the javelin.

Paulzine won the javelin throw with her distance of 139 feet, 4 inches. Also in the javelin throw, Erin Ellinger took second (105-6) and Becca Fischer placed fifth (97-7).

Paulzine set personal-best marks today in the hammer throw and the discus. In the hammer throw, Paulzine took second with her distance of 176-10 and in the discus throw she took third with her distance 157-4.

All-time at SDSU, Paulzine ranks first in the javelin throw, fourth in the discus throw and fifth in the hammer throw.

Also in the discus throw, two Jackrabbit throwers joined Paulzine in the top-five. Silvia Zanini (fourth) recorded a mark of 150-8 and Fischer (fifth) tailed a personal-best distance of 146-11.

Shelby Assmus and Trisha Sumption both placed in the top-five in the hammer throw. Assmus (third) posted a mark of 170-5 and Sumption (fifth) recorded a personal-best distance of 165-9.

Marissia Hagedorn won the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 14.63 seconds. Her time today is the 10th-fastest all-time in school history.

Carly Carper led the Jackrabbits in both the 100-  and the 200-meter dash. Carper posted a time of 12.06 in the 100-meter dash to place third. Also in the 100-meter dash, Nina Tucker placed eighth with her time of 12.99 and Sydney Proiette took 10th with her final time of 13.13.

Carper went stride-for-stride with decorated Summit League champion Sami Spenner in the 200-meter dash.

Spenner and Carper finished back-to-back to take first- and second-place in the 200-meter dash. Spenner finished the race with a time of 23.86 and Carper clocked in for a time of 23.90. Both of their times, like everyone else in the 200-meter dash, were over the legal wind amount of 3.9 knots.

Also in the 200-meter dash, Hagedorn and Megan Viland rounded out the top-10 with their ninth- and 10th-place finishes, respectively. Hagedorn finished the race with her time of 26.95 and Viland posted a time of 27.30.

Three Jackrabbits finished in the top-five of the 400-meter dash. Gina Fritz and Jessica McDonald both placed in the top-three of the event. Fritz took second overall with her time of 58.89 and J. McDonald placed third with her time of 59.35. Freshman Jacleen Patterson posted a fifth-place finish as she clocked in at 59.51.

Megan West (2:18.52) led the charge for the Jackrabbits in the 800-meter run with her third-place finish. Also finishing in the top-10 of the 800-meter run were Jessica Eibs and Erica Meyer. Eibs crossed the finish line right behind West to place fourth (2:18.55) and in 10th-place was Meyer with her final time of 2:23.27.

West also placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run with her time of 4:46.60. Also in the 1,500-meter run, Lindsey Strait ran a time of 4:43.36 to take third and Brooke Peterson posted a season-best time of 4:50.83 for a sixth-place finish.

Jenna Grossenburg placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run with her final time of 19:06.70.

During the relay portion of the meet, the 4x100-meter relay team posted a time of 51.44 and the 4x400-meter relay team ran a time of 4:05.88.

Logan Amdahl recorded a height of 10-0 to take seventh in the pole vault event.

In the long jump event, Monique Mack recorded a distance of 16-0 1/4 to place ninth.

McKenzie Johnson went on to a post a sixth-place finish in the shot put with her mark of 44-3 1/2.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Three Jackrabbit women competed at the Arkansas Spring Invitational. Jazzelena Black posted two top-10 finishes as she competed in both the long jump and the triple jump events.

She finished seventh in the long jump event with her distance of 18 feet, 6 inches. She also placed ninth in the triple jump as she tallied a mark of 38-0 1/4. Her mark today in the long jump moves her into ninth all-time in school history.

Also competing for the Jackrabbit women at the Arkansas Spring Invitational were Kali Olson and Mary Wirth. They both competed in the high jump event.

Wirth went on to post a final height of 5-7 1/4 to place fourth and Olson took eighth with her height of 5-5 1/4.

The Sioux City Relays and the Nebraska Quad are up next for the Jackrabbits. The Sioux City Relays is a two-day meet (Friday and Saturday) in Sioux City, Iowa, and the Nebraska Quad is Saturday in Lincoln, Neb.
