Yak's provisional mark garners NSIC athlete of the week

BURNSVILLE, Minn.
- Augustana junior Paul Yak was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's track athlete of the week in a release on Monday morning.
 
Yak traveled to Raleigh, N.C. where he competed in the 5,000-meter run at the prestigious Raleigh Relays. Yak clocked the first provisional qualifying time for the Vikings in the outdoor season, placing 10th in his heat with a 14:36.80.
 
A native of Storm Lake, Iowa, Yak was the third-highest finishing Division II runner in the men's 5k and currently ranks 10th in Division II with his time.
 
Yak was selected as the men's track athlete to watch for the Augustana track and field team after winning the individual NSIC Championship and NCAA Central Region Championship in the cross country season. Yak redshirted during the indoor season and will have a full year remaining for the 2015 indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
This is Yak's second athlete of the week honor after he collected his first accolade on May 1, 2012.
