LINCOLN, Neb. – The South Dakota State women's track and field team competed Saturday at the Nebraska Quad and Carly Carper posted three top-10 finishes throughout the day. 

Carper and Gina Fritz both placed in the top-five of the 200-meter dash. Carper set a legal-wind personal-best time today as she clocked in at 24.26 seconds to take third. Fritz ran a season-best time of 24.67 to place fourth.

They also placed in the top-10 of the 100-meter dash. Carper recorded a season-best time of 11.86 to place third and Fritz ran a time of 12.33 to take seventh.

Carper also took sixth in the long jump with her distance of 17 feet, 11 1/2 inches.

Bobbie McLaury ran a personal-best time of 2:16.01 in the 800-meter run to place sixth.

Four Jackrabbits placed in top-five of the 1,500-meter run. Jessica Eibs placed second overall with her time of 4:37.60. Following Eibs were Lindsey Strait (4:38.59), Megan West (4:41.52) and Brooke Peterson (4:45.42). Strait, West and Peterson all set personal-best times in the event. Eibs was just shy of setting a personal-best time in the 1,500-meter run as her current personal-best time is 4:37.35.

Cheyanne Bowers placed second in the 3,000-meter run as she ran a personal-best time of 10:22.99. Her old personal-best time in the event was 10:54.63, which she set last year at the Nebraska Quad.

Jacleen Patterson posted a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash as she clocked in for a personal-best time of 58.97.

Marissia Hagedorn clocked in at 14.72 to take sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Lori Foltz took fourth with her time of 1:05.99.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Hagedorn, Nina Tucker, Courtney Trapp and Sydney Proiette combined for a final time of 50.89 to place fourth.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Evelyn Klein, Fritz, Jessica McDonald and Patterson posted a final time of 4:03.71 to place fourth.

Logan Amdahl cleared a height of 10-2 3/4 to take 10th in the pole vault.

The Jackrabbits placed three jumpers in the top-10 of the high jump event. Mary Wirth and Kali Olson both cleared a height of 5-5. Wirth placed fourth and Olson took fifth. Ashley Wagner finished seventh with her final height of 5-3.

In the hammer throw, five Jackrabbit throwers placed in the top-10. Shelby Assmus led the charge with her fifth-place finish as she posted a season-best distance of 171-1.  

Assmus, Amy Paulzine, Trisha Sumption and McKenzie Johnson went back-to-back-to-back-to-back as they took fifth through eighth. Paulzine (sixth) went 168-7, Sumption (seventh) posted a mark of 164-7 and Johnson tallied a personal-best distance of 164-5. Kae Januschka rounded out the top-10 with her personal-best distance of 135-0.

Johnson, Assumus, Sumption and Silvia Zanini placed in the top-10 of the shot put. Johnson recorded a distance of 45-8 to take fourth, while Assmus (45-0 1/4), Sumption (41-10) and Zanini (40-9) placed sixth through eighth.

Paulzine won her second consecutive javelin throw title. After winning the javelin last weekend at the USD Snowbird, Paulzine took first today with her mark of 142-2.

In the discus throw, the Jackrabbits placed second through fifth. Zanini led the Jackrabbits in the discus throw with her second-place finish (142-7). Rounding out the top-five in the discus throw were Paulzine (141-0), Fischer (137-9) and Januschka (127-3).

The Jackrabbits are out west next weekend for their annual California trip. They will be competing at the Long Beach State Invite (April 19) and the Mt. SAC Relays (April 17-19).
