Biography

2017: Redshirted the season while coming back from an injury, but showed big progress in his first meet back, as he competed unattached at the OSU High Performance Meet and had a new shot put PR of 57-7 while going 159-10 in the discus … also threw 158-4 in the discus at the Ken Shannon Invite.

2016: Had his season interrupted by a knee injury but returned to compete at the Pac-12 Championships in the discus … finished 11th in the discus at the Pac-12 meet with a best throw of 163-1 … season-best discus throw came in a win at the Ken Shannon Invite where he threw 171-1 … was second in the shot put a the UW-WSU Dual with a mark of 53-9 ¼ … indoors, set a new shot put PR with a put of 56-8 at the UW Indoor Open … threw 55-7 at the MPSF Championships to finish 20th overall … also went 55-7 ½ at the Husky Classic to place eighth.

2015: An impressive first season as he competed in the shot put and the discus at the Pac-12 Championships, narrowly missing scoring with the disc, and ranking second on the squad in both events … at Pac-12s, he threw a discus PR of 172-9 to make the final and finish ninth overall … competed at the U.S. Junior Championships in both the shot put and discus, taking ninth in the shot put and seventh in the discus with the junior implements … put the shot a PR of 56-1 at the Ken Shannon Invitational late in the year, finishing second … also was second in the shot put at the UW-WSU Dual with a mark of 55-3 ¾, and took third in the discus at 160-11 … was the discus runner-up at the Pepsi Team Invitational with a strong toss of 169-0, and was third in the shot put at 54-8 … competed just once indoors, going 53-3 ½ with the shot put at the opening UW Indoor Preview.

High School and Personal: Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota … mother is Toni Lembcke and father is Dean Theisen … has one younger sister, Kathryn … won the 2014 Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year award for South Dakota after sweeping the shot put and discus state titles for the second straight year … had a big discus PR of 198-3 at the Metro Conference Meet in 2014, a mark that tied for No. 5 nationally … tossed the shot 65-1 at the Sioux Falls Qualifier and also had a state record mark of 65-5 to rank No. 10 in the U.S. ... had the best shot put throw for an underclassman in the nation 2013, ranking No. 7 overall with a best toss of 63-10 ½ … also claimed the state discus title in 2013 season and had a season-best of 179-1 … was ninth in the shot put at the 2013 U.S. Junior Championships in Des Moines, Iowa … second in the shot at Junior Olympic Nationals in 2012 in the intermediate boys section … raised his shot put PR by more than 15-feet from his sophomore to his junior year.
