- Nathan Hauge and Keegan Carda both hit provisional qualifying times as Augustana had 13 athletes compete on the first day of the 87th Kansas Relays.

Hauge recorded the first NCAA-qualifying time of his career on Friday when he took third in the men's unseeded 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:36.99, Augustana's second provisional time in the event this season.

TJ Gleason turned in an impressive performance in the men's 5k as well, missing a provisional time by just over three seconds with his fifth-place finish in 14:43.57.  John Klecker (15:03.70) took 17th in the event, Paul Yak (15:18.04) placed 19th, and Shane McCallum (15:19.05) came in 20th to round out the five-man Viking contingent in the penultimate event of day one.

The Vikings nearly added two more to their 2014 qualifying list in the final event of the first day with Carda recording his first career provisional mark and teammate Glen Ellingson coming up a few second shy. Carda took fourth in the men's 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:53.57. Ellingson was hunting for his first qualifying time, but came up short, placing fifth in 31:08.28.

Harald Karbo was the lone event winner for the Vikings on day one, taking the men's unseeded 1,500-meter run title in 3:54.23, just over a second from a qualifying time. Adam Braun placed eighth in the same event, finishing his metric mile in 3:59.88.

The women also earned a pair of top-eight finishes in the unseeded 1,500-meter run when Meritxell Delgado (4:42.95) placed sixth and Kaitlyn Yoerg (4:43.81) finished in eighth. Cassidy Soli was just behind her teammates with a 10th-place finish in 4:46.55.

Megan Brown also registered a top-eight mark for Augustana, taking eighth in the women's unseeded 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:21.08 in the final women's event on Thursday.

The Vikings continue their run at the Kansas Relays on Friday as 10 athletes will compete in six individual prelims and seven relay teams will see their first action in Kansas.
