Wirth earns All-American honors

EUGENE, Ore. – Junior high jumper Mary Wirth tied for 12th at the 2014 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships with her height of 5 feet, 9 3/4 inches.

At the first height of 5-7 3/4, she missed her first attempt, but she came back strong to clear the height on her second attempt. At 5-9 3/4, she cleared the height on her first try.

At 5-10 3/4, Wirth missed her three attempts and fouled out.

With her 12th-place finish, Wirth garners Second Team All-American honors. She is the first Jackrabbit on the women's side to be named an All-American in the Division I era.

During the 2013-14 school year, she set both high jump school records (indoor 5-10, outdoor 5-10 3/4), won the 2014 Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships high jump title, placed second in the high jump at the 2013-14 Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships, was named Academic All-League and was named Summit League Track & Field Female Athlete of the Week (April 1).
