IRENE — The Gayville-Volin girls and Freeman Academy boys claimed overall and league honors at the Tri-Valley Conference/Irene-Wakonda Invitational on Wednesday at Glenridge Golf Course near Irene.
In the boys’ division, Freeman Academy edged McCrossan 18-20 for top honors. The Bobcats beat Viborg-Hurley 14-24 for the TVC title.
Canistota’s Mason Decker finished in 17:06.14 to beat out Centerville’s Nick Wixon (17:09.67) and McCrossan’s John Brave Hart (17:14.62) for overall honors. Wixon was the TVC champ, beating out Baltic’s Matthew Skadsen (fourth overall), who finished in 17:21.14.
Gayville-Volin claimed the top two spots and put four runners in the top six to run away with both honors, 6-19 over Freeman and 7-18 over Viborg-Hurley.
The Raiders’ Laura Nelson (14:16.39) and Genny Clark (15:13.98) went 1-2 in the 4,000-meter event. Freeman’s Cailey Roth (15:21.59) finished third.
