FARGO, N.D. — The South Dakota State women's track team competed for the first time in 2015 at the NDSU Invite Saturday afternoon at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.
For the second meet in a row, Carly Carper scored victories in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes. In the 60-meter dash, she set a facility record with a time of 7.58, also shaving .01 of a second off the school record she set at the SDSU Open Dec. 6. She followed that up with a time of 24.94 in the 200-meter dash.
In the long jump, Jazzelena Black took home a meet title and moved into third all-time with a distance of 18-8.50. She also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 39-0.25.
With a time of 2:15.52 in the 800-meter run, Jessica Eibs picked up her first win of the season and cracked South Dakota State's top 10. Eibs, who is the school record holder in the indoor 600-meter run, now ranks seventh all-time in the 800-meter run.
Karley Konkol and Bobbie McLaury became the third and fourth Jackrabbits to crack the 600-meter run's top-10 list this season, joining Renae Dykstra (third, 1:37.40) and Marisa Shady (fourth, 1:38.09). Konkol (1:40.72) and McLaury (1:41.45) now rank sixth and eighth respectively.
Jenna Stephens moved from ninth to sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 37-7.75, placing third in the process. Newcomer Kamelia Schneider tied Marissia Hagedorn for 10th in school history in the pole vault with a mark of 10-8.
With a distance of 49-11.75 in the weight throw, Silvia Zanini claimed 10th all-time in South Dakota State history. Courtney Neubert won her first collegiate track and field event, finishing nearly four seconds ahead of the next finisher in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:21.56.
Competing for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign, Ashley Odegaard posted a time .06 of a second shy of her career best in the 60-meter dash. Odegaard ranks fifth all-time in this event with a time of 7.73. She also finished third in the long jump with a distance of 18-0.25.
In the 400-meter run, Jacleen Patterson (58.84), Sandra Gramer (59.83) and Lori Foltz (59.98) cleared the minute mark, placing fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
The Jackrabbits return home to Brookings to host the Jim Emmerich/Alumni Invitational Saturday, Jan.24 at 12 p.m.
