SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - The Augustana College men's and women's track & field teams opened its 2015 season in fine fashion at the Dordt Invitational, hosted by Dordt College on Saturday with seven Vikings' picking up individual victories.
Emma Anderson took first place in the 1,000-meter race coming up strong in the last lap to clock a time of 3:06.15, teammate
Avery Selberg finished second with a time of 3:08.01.
Four Vikings swept the women's 55-meter hurdles, finishing in the top-four spots respectively.
Irene Almarcha earned provisionally qualified recording a first-place finish clocking a time of 8.12.
Bree Woelber tabbed second with a time of 8:24,
Valerie Moos third (8:86), and
Calliann Brunswig fourth (8:91).
Woelber and
Kelsey Kaufmann both provisionally qualified in the high jump, with Woelber placing first clearing (5 feet, 7.75 inches) and Kaufmann placing second (5 feet, 5.75 inches).
Melissa Barella finished third-place (5 feet, 1.75 inches).
In the triple jump
Kaylynn Erlandson took first-place reaching 10.94 meters, while
Coley Stoller finished fifth (10.73 meters)
Woelber also provisionally qualified in the long jump reaching (18 feet, 5.75 inches) en route to a second-place finish.
Brother's
Justin Greenway and
Jason Greenway both finished in the top two spots in the 55-meter dash. Jason topped his brother clocking a time of 6.49 for first-place, while Justin took second with a time of 6.50.
Mason Ford was the first Viking to get a top-five finish on the day in the high jump clearing (6 feet, 4.75 inches) to earning at second-place finish.
In the men's 55-meter hurdles,
Ryan Heuer recorded a personal-best for a second place (7.74), while teammate
Dylon Van't Hof also ran a personal-best (8.13) coming in fourth.
In the 400-meter dash,
Carina Hofmeister took third with a time of 1:00.09, while
Emma Schmidt followed by placing fourth (1:01.07).
Laura Popanz took fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27:67.
Seniors
Kayla Mescher and
Anne Parsley won their own titles in the women's 800-meter and 600-meter dash. Mescher clocked a time of 2:17.67 in the 800-meter dash, while Parsley finished with a time of 1:38.07 in the 600-meter.
In the Women's 4x400 meter relay teammates Hofmeister, Almarcha, Parsley, and Mescher took home first-place clocking a time of 4:01.06.
Senior
CJ Ham took second-place in the weighted throw,
provisionally qualified reaching (58 feet, 3.76 inches). Ham also earned a third-place in the shot put heave of (50 feet, 0 inches).
The Vikings are back in action next weekend at the MSU Almuni Open on Jan. 23 and 24 in Mankato, Minn.
