MINNEAPOLIS — The South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams opened the Jack Johnson Classic Friday afternoon with select events at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
The Jackrabbits had strong performances in the 200-meter dash on both the men's and women's sides. In a field of 64 athletes, Carly Carper placed third, posting a time of 24.99. In a field of 57 athletes, Zach Schroeder secured South Dakota State's lone top-10 finish, placing ninth with a time of 22.69.
En route to a 13th-place finish, Ashley Odegaard shaved .01 of a second off her personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.73, the ninth-best in school history.
In the long jump, Jazzelena Black placed third (18-1.50) and Carper took sixth (17-8.75).
