BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Augustana track and field team traveled to Brookings, S.D. to compete at the SDSU Open two-day event with four Vikings placing in the top-five of their respective events on Friday.
To start the day off,
Irene Almarcha and
Anne Parsley placed in the top 20 of the women's 200-meter dash. Almarcha finished 18th with a time of 25.68, while Parsley placed 20th clocking a time of 25.77.
Emma Anderson and
Emma Schmidt both competed in the women's 600-meter run. Anderson finishing 11th with a time of 1:36.73 and Schmidt clocked a time of 1:37.14 for a 14th-place finish.
In the women's 1,000-meter race,
Kaitlyn Yoerg recorded a personal-best time of 2:56.54 for a third-place finish, while teammate
Avery Selberg took fourth clocking a time of 2:57.84.
Annie Kruse earned a time of 17:31.7 for an eighth-place finish, while
Meritxell Delgado placed ninth clocking a time of 17:41.5 in the 5,000-meter run.
In the women's high jump,
Kelsey Kaufmann placed second with a clearance of 1.63 meters, while
Calliann Brunswig took 15th in the long jump clearing 5.03 meters.
On the men's side, brothers
Jason Greenway and
Justin Greenway both recorded a new personal-best time in the 200-meter dash. Greenway [Jason] placed ninth with a time of 22.07, while Greenway [Justin] clocked a time of 22.23 for the 12th-place finish.
Zach Tuschen took 13th in the men's 600-meter run with a time of 1:23.05, followed by
Chris Sharpe placing 15th clocking a time of 1:23.17. In the 1000-meter run,
Austin Krohnke was the top Vikings to finish with a time of 2:37.11 for a 17th-place finish.
Glen Ellingson took the top mark for Augustana in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 14:44.74 for a fourth-place finish. The trio of
Nathan Hauge,
Keegan Carda, and
Adam Braun finished in a pack placing sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
Nick Larsen tabbed a 20th place finish with a time of 15:15.66.
Logan Burns and
Adam Kost closed the night for the Vikings with two personal-best marks in the men's 3,000-meter run. Burns clocked a time of 9:02.42 for a 16th-place finish, while Kost took 44th with a time of 9:38.86.
Augustana will continue to compete at the SDSU Open on Saturday at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.The first event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
