Davis was the surprise squad of 2015. The Blue Devils placed second at the California Division I State Championships behind perennial power Great Oak High School to earn an invitation to Nike Cross Nationals, where they upset the Wolfpack by placing second in the nation! Only nine-time national champions Fayetteville-Manlius topped Davis on the podium in Portland. And this without the full health of star runner, Fiona O'Keeffe, a two-time California state cross country champion with 10-flat 3200m credentials.
With O'Keeffe hurt, Sofia Castiglioni stepped up for top runner duties, followed closely by Abigail Fisk and Olivia O'Keeffe -- all three of whom return this fall. They'll need their 4-5 runners to close the gap to make sure they are selected to NXN.
Of note: Olivia O'Keeffe is the younger sister of 2016 graduate Fiona -now at Stanford - and has developed into a solid runner in her own right, clocking a PB of 4:48 to place third at the California state championship this spring.
