Arizona's Top Sprinter Tyrees Moulton Commits To Miami

Arizona's top returning sprinter has made his college decision just two days away from the start of the National Letter of Intent signing day early period on November 8.

Phoenix North Canyon High's Tyrees Moulton verbally pledged to the University of Miami on Monday. And he adds to what could be a very dangerous sprinting corps in the very near future for sprints coach Diego Flaquer.

The Hurricanes have been busy this offseason, picking up the transfer of Chauncy Smart from the University of South Florida; the former top Florida sprinter is heading to Miami to focus exclusively on track and field.

In Arizona, Moulton has the No. 1 returning time in the 400m (46.51), the No. 2 time in the 200m (21.36), and is No. 11 in the 100m (10.82).

The NLI period for early signings in all other sports -- excluding football and basketball -- extends from November 8-15, 2017, before reopening April 11, 2018, for all recruits.

This past spring Moulton doubled at the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division 2 Championships, earning titles in the 200m (22.06) and the 400m (47.49).

Moulton went on to finish third in the 400m at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque, running a career PB of 46.51 seconds, and was sixth at the Brooks PR Invitational in the same race.

Moulton returns with the seventh-fastest 400m time in the nation.
