Bentele Sets New School Record - Augustana University Athletics

Noel Bentele broke the school record in the hammer throw Tuesday at the SDSU Twilight Meet. Four other Vikings also finished in the top five in their respective events.

Bentele's mark of 168 feet beat the old mark of 158 feet set by Lindsey Schultz in 2008. The throw was a NCAA provisional qualifier and puts her 19th on the national list. Bentele was also seventh in the shot put with a launch of 11.51 meters.

Rachel Christiansen was fifth in the discus with a throw of 42.28 meters. In addition, Melissa Jackson placed 4th in the javelin and had a personal best throw of 32.66 meters.

On the men's side, Dylan Buehler won the javelin with a throw of 53.03 meters, which is just off his seasonal best set last week.

Lastly, Kevin Knapp was 4th in the hammer with a throw of 45.04 meters.

The Vikings will compete again this weekend at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D.
