Augustana has six first-place finishers at Minnesota State Preseason Open

MANKATO PRESEASON OPEN RESULTS

MANKATO, Minn.
– Augustana was one of six teams at the Minnesota State Preseason Open held in Mankato, Minn., on Saturday afternoon at the Meyers Field House. In attendance along with the Vikings and MSU was Concordia, North Iowa Area Community College, Winona State and Sioux Falls.

Augustana had six first-place finishers and 19 Vikings had top-five finishes.

Katie Guse placed first in the high jump, jumping 5-6 to provisionally qualify for nationals.

Augustana also had first-place finishers in Paul Mallory, Aduo Omot, Henrik Hansson, LeAnn Severson and Augustana's men's 4X4 meter relay team (3:27.65).

Mallory won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.50, while Omot won the 600-meter run in 1:21.82. Hansson ran the 800-meter as an unattached athlete in 1:58.31. Also a first-place finisher in the 800-meter run was Severson who turned in a time of 2:21.06 to take the top spot.

Rounding out the 800-meter run in second and third for Augustana was Alyssa Schmidt (2:26.30) and Drew Trahms (2:26.54).

Colleen Everson placed second in the 300-meter dash with a time of 42.43 and Anne Parsley (42.50) took third. Everson and Parsley's performances in the race place them in the top-five fastest times in Augustana history.

Paul Mallory ran the 400-meter dash in 51.87 to place second.

The Vikings will be in action again on Jan. 15 at the University of South Dakota Invite.
