Chicken pox hits junior athletes, Penn Relays trip doubtful

Published:Monday | April 15, 2013 | 9:29 PM

Several members of the Jamaican team which participated at the recent CARIFTA Games in The Bahamas are reported to have contracted chicken pox.

This means they could miss next week's Penn Relays for their schools.

Our sources say some of those showing symptoms of the virus did very well at that Games and their absence from the Penn Relays will affect the chances of their schools.

They include both males and females.

The affected schools include, Kingston College, St Jago High and Holmwood Technical High.

According to reliable sources, the athletes seem to have picked up the virus from Michael O'Hara who was diagnosed with chicken pox the day after the team landed in The Bahamas.

O'Hara was isolated in The Bahamas and did not return with the team when the Jamaicans departed Nassau for Kingston.
