FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. — South Dakota State's Mary Wirth earned second-team All-American honors in the high jump at the 2015 NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Friday at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Wirth posted a height of 5-8, placing 15th. With her performance, she became the first Jackrabbit to garner indoor track and field All-American accolades in the Division I era.
Last year, Wirth tied for 12th at the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship with a mark of 5-9.75. She is one of only two Jackrabbits to earn All-American honors since South Dakota State elevated its athletic programs to the Division I level, along with 2011 outdoor honorable mention Jared Vlastuin.
Wirth and the Jackrabbits open the outdoor season Saturday, March 28 at the Arkansas Invite in Fayetteville, Ark.
