Iowa Females Sweep Big River 800


The Big River Running High School Indoor Championship holds some of the best indoor performances for athletes across the Midwest, held at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, MO. The Championships is a final meet among the Big River Running High School Indoor Series where athletes from all over compete to hit qualifiers for the Championship meet. The Hearnes Center is part of the University of Missouri where Iowan Karissa Schweizer, who holds three NCAA individual titles, trains and competes. 

Schweizer's younger sister Kelsey placed second in the 800, lead and followed by fellow Iowans. Janette Schraft of East Mills was the victor crossing the line in 2:22.04, Schweizer in 2:24.44, and Julia Schumacher for third in 2:27.71. 


Schumacher was also a member of the Champion 4x800, clocking a team time of 10:18.75 with the following splits--

2:33.99 (7:31.51)
2:47.24 (10:18.75)
