Hawley To Host The Dale Skallerud Invitational Today

PREVIEW

Weather: High 40's, Partly Cloudy

BOYS

Virtual Meet Projection: Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (33), Breckenridge/Wahpeton (40)

Top Individuals: Zach Haire (B/W, 16:15), Christian Sterton (Ada-Borup/NCW, 17:11), Cade Dawson (DGF, 17:20), Hunter Gowin (B/W, 17:20)

The Skinny: Some big names will be featured at this small meet, as Zach Haire, Christan Sterton, and Hunter Gowin are all returning All-State runners from 2017. Haire, currently ranked 12th in Class A, is definitely having the best season of the three, however, as both Sterton and Gowin continue to work their way back from injuries. However, having both Haire and Gowin may not be enough for Breckenridge/Wahpeton to come away with a team win, as the virtual meet (now and for the rest of the season based soley on results from 2018) puts DGF ahead of them by seven points. Of course, that seven points can dissapear quickly with any solid improvement from one of either team's later scorers.

GIRLS

Virtual Meet Projection: Hawley (35), Breckenridge/Wahpeton (52)

Top Individuals: Ivy Tickel (Hawley, 21:34), Haley Olson (Ada-Borup/NCW, 21:47), Marissa John (DGF, 21:56), Peyton Gette (Kindred, 22:13), Lily Peterson (Hawley, 22:14)

The Skinny: The host team from Hawley is projected to have a little bit of room to breathe against their competition today, and Ivy Tickel could come away with the first XC win of yer very young career, coming in with the best time in the field. However, the battle will be a very even match between her and several other girls who have all had very similar seasons. But without a doubt, the most proven runner if the field is her teammate Lily Peterson, who has qualified for State and run as fast as 19:28. Peterson, however, is fresh off of her recovery from a broken leg, so it may be some time before she gets quite back up to the level that she has achieved before.
