Augie Cross Country to Compete in NSIC Meet this Weekend

The men's and women's cross country teams will compete this week at the NSIC Championships in Bemidji, Minn.

The women, who have retained their No. 2 regional ranking this week, will be looking for their third consecutive title as they were NCC Champions in 2007 and NSIC Champs in 2008. Perhaps their biggest competition will be Minnesota Duluth, who edged out the Vikings at the Roy Griak Invitational this year. However, the women produced a stellar performance at the Charles Bowles Invitational in Willamette, Ore., where they earned second place while beating top-ranked Division II teams as well as Division I competition.

The Augie men also kept their No. 7 regional ranking this week. For the last two years, the men's team has finished in second place at the conference championships, being beat by Minnesota State both times. This could be the year they break that trend as the men have already beaten the Mavericks at this year's Roy Griak Invitational.

The NSIC championship meet will take place on Saturday with the women starting at 11 a.m. The men's race will follow at noon.
