Junior
Bobbi Jo Buyck recorded a NCAA provisional qualifying mark Friday during the first day of the Minnesota State University Open and Pentathlon.
Buyck, a Garvin, Minn. native, jumped 5.60 meters in the long jump, which passed the provisional mark of 5.55 meters. Buyck finished in fourth place in the heptathlon, amassing 3097 points. She also ran the 60 meter hurdles in 9.31, leaped 1.36 meters (4-5.05 ft) in the high jump, launched the shot put 10.65 meters, and ran the 800 meter run in 2:48.47.
Senior
Claire Severson and sophomore
Karissa Pepin also competed in the pentathlon. Severson finished in 13th place with 2583 points while Pepin was right behind in 14th with 2171 points.
In addition, junior
Laura Johnson took seventh in the women's 3K final, finishing in 10:53.26.
On the men's side, freshman
Jacob Pohlmann is on pace to break the Augustana school record in the pentathlon. Pohlmann has yet to compete in the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000 meter run, which take place tomorrow.
The meet will conclude tomorrow at Meyers Field House with field events beginning at 8:30 a.m. and running events starting at noon.
