Augustana trackster
Diego Oquendo was named NSIC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today.
The junior from Staten Island, N.Y broke an Augustana record in the 60 meter hurdles at the Nebraska Tune Up this weekend, running the race in 8.18. The previous record, 8.25, was set by Augustana track legend Vance Butler in 1979. The mark is also a Division II provisional qualifier.
Oquendo also finished 11th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.98.
He is the second track athlete to earn the award this season, and the first on the men's side.
The team will compete this weekend at the NSIC Indoor Championships in Mankato, Minn.
