Kyle Blakeslee finished in 11th place to help the United States to a runner-up finish at the 6th Annual North American Central American and Caribbean Cross Country Championships Saturday at the Mt. Irvine Golf Course in Mt. Irvine, Tobago.
Blakeslee, a freshman from Cannon Falls, Minn., was the fourth USA runners to cross the finish line of the 4K course, finishing in a time of 14:45.
"Kyle ran very well on a very challenging course and represented the USA respectably with an 11th-place finish," Augustana head coach
Tracy Hellman said. "The hot and humid weather conditions were tough for the race, but Kyle ran conservatively and finished strong on the last 1K."
In the team standings, the United States finished second to Canada. Canada, which had four of the top 8 finishers in the 25-person field, had a team score of 16 points. The USA was next at 24. Jamaica was third with 56 points, edging out Mexico, which was fourth with 59 points. Puerto Rico rounded out the teams with a score of 80.
