Men's and Women's Cross Country Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

Men's and Women's Cross Country Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The Augustana men's and women's cross country teams have been named USTFCCCA All-Academic teams. In addition, four student-athletes have earned indiviual All-Academic honors.

For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.

The Augustana men's team posted a team GPA of 3.19 and earned fifth place at the NCAA Central Regional meet. In addition, the team qualified for nationals and went on to finish 10th.

The women's team had a 3.34 team GPA and a third place finish at regionals also qualified them for nationals. They finished 13th at the national meet.

To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have placed in the top 30% of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships or have placed in the top 50% of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.

Junior Matt Braithwaite and sophomore Austin Vande Berg were named All-Academic on the men's side. Both are majoring in biology.

For the women, seniors Alyssa Anderson and Jillian Tholen were named All-Academic. Anderson majors in psychology while Tholen majors in biology.
