The Augustana women's track & field team has been picked to finish second while the Augie men were tabbed third in the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll, the conference office announced today.
U-Mary used four first place votes to edge the Augustana women, even though the Vikings garnered five first place votes of their own. The Marauders nipped the Vikings by two points, 93-91, to earn the top spot. Minnesota State received the other first place vote as they came in third in the coaches' poll.
On the men's side, Minnesota State took the top spot, earning nine first place votes for a total of 81 points. MSU Moorhead cam in second with 72 points while Augie rounded out the top three with 58.
NSIC Track & Field teams will compete in various meets throughout the spring with the season culminating in Moorhead, Minn. on May 7-8, 2010 at the NSIC Track & Field Outdoor Championships. The 2010 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place on May 27-29, 2010 in Charlotte, N.C. at the Irwin Belk Complex on the campus of Johnson C. Smith University.
