The Augustana track and field teams had a strong showing at the Sioux City Relays this weekend, breaking one school record and setting two provisional qualifying marks.
Kevin Knapp broke the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 158-10.00.
In addition, both
Runa Falch and
Kyle Blakeslee provisionally qualified in the 5,000 meter run. Falch's time of 17:11.87 set a new meet record and earned her first place in the event. Blakeslee was second in a time of 17:15.28, which also broke the old meet record.
The Vikings had three finish in the top 10 in the 800 meter run.
Cecilie Udstuen took second place with a time of 2:15.08. Coming in fourth and fifth was
Linn Nilsson and
Caitlin Polgreen, respectively. Nilsson ran a 2:16.59 while Polgreen finished in 2:16.78.
Augie's distance medley team of
Miriam Hovda,
Annie Pfeifle, #Allison Henke# and
Katie Hjerpe took second place with a time of 12:31.74.
In the field events,
Noel Bentele was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 41.-01.00. She was also fourth in the hammer, throwing 150-11.
Rachel Christiansen was third in the discus throw with a best mark of 139-05. She was also fourth in the javelin with a mark of 114-04
Karissa Pepin was eighth in the high jump, vaulting 5-0.25.
Augie's men's distance medley team was also second, finishing in 10:28.19. The team included
Daniel Black,
Zach Morris,
Jordan Slusser and
Austin Vande Berg.
Brian Werner was eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.95.
Aaron Jung was second in the men's shot put, throwing 50-08.75.
Tyler Lynch was eighth in the discus throw with a best mark of 133-11.
Corey Sugden was seventh in the high jump, leaping 6-02.25.
