Augustana's women's 4x800 meter relay team set the South Dakota state record at the Drake Relays on Saturday. In addition, the men's distance medley relay team set a new school record.
The women's team, which consisted of
Linn Nilsson,
Caitlin Polgreen,
Miriam Hovda, and
Cecilie Udstuen, finished the race in 8:59.02. They won the event while also setting an Augustana record to go along with the state record.
The men's distance medley relay team also won the event with a time of 9:54.55. The team members were
Austin Vande Berg,
Aduo Omot,
Brian Werner and
Tom Karbo.
"To win a Drake Relays title is very special," head coach
Tracy Hellman said. "To win two is a tremendous accomplishment. We ran great and I am extremely proud of both teams."
The Vikings also competed at the Simpson Invitational this weekend.
Augie competed well in the men's 5000 meter, with
Travis Beniak winning the event in 14:53.79.
Daniel Black was third in a time of 15:03.96.
Alyssa Anderson finished 18th in the women's 5,000 meter, running the race in 18:51.94.
The Vikings will compete again next Saturday at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls, S.D.
