Augie Track & Field Has Three Top-10 Finishes at NSIC Multi-Events

Three memebers of the Augustana track & field teams finished in the top 10 of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Multi-Events Monday in Aberdeen, S.D.

Jacob Pohlmann finished ninth in the decathlon, with a total of 5,311 points. His best event of the competition was the high jump, in which he tied for third with a jump of 5-11.5. He was 14th in the 100 meter (12.28), sixth in the long jump (6.06 meters), seventh in the shot put (10.03 meters) on day one. On day two he finished seventh in the 110 hurdles (17.43), sixth in the discus (31.61 meters), seventh in the pole vault (3.65 meters), eighth in the javelin (40.70 meters) and 10th in the 1500 run (5:23.82).

The Vikings had two women compete in the heptathlon. Meagan Grandgenett was eighth while Claire Severson finished 10th. 

Grandgenett had her best performance in the shot put, where she finished fourth with a throw of 9.75 meters. She was 10th in th 100 hurdles (16.42), ninth in the high jump (1.32 meters), eighth in the 200 meter (28.30), eighth in the long jump (4.76 meters), eighth in the javelin (25.74 meters) and 8th in the 800 (2:46.80.

Severson had her top finish in the 200 meters, where she was fifth in a time of 27.64. She was also eighth in the 100 hurdles (15.99), 14th in the high jump (1.32 meters), eighth in the shot put (9.57 meters), 11th in the long jump (4.49 meters), sixth in the javelin (28.39 meters), and sixth in the 800 (2:43.88).

The Vikings will be back at home on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Howard Wood Relays.
