Augie Women Finish Third at NSIC Track & Field Championships

Final Results

The Augustana women's track & field teams earned a third place finish at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships Saturday in Moorhead, Minn. Kyle Blakeslee and Linn Nilsson are both NSIC Champions in their respective events.

Blakeslee is the NSIC Champion in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 10:43.14 was over eight seconds faster than the second place finisher and is an NCAA automatic qualifier. Miriam Hovda finished sixth in the event with a time of 11:16.64.
Linn Nilsson is an NSIC 800 meter champion, winning the event in 2:15.68. LeAnn Severson was fourth with a time of 2:18.74.
 
The Vikings also had a strong finish in the 1500 meter. Caitlin Polgreen was second, finishing in 4:33.22 which is a new school record. Nilsson was just behind with a time of 4:33.92. Molly Kokesh was seventh, completing the race in 4:51.24.
 
Runa Falch and Blakeslee went two and three in the 5K. Falch finished in 17:25.92 while Blakeslee had a time of 17:41.32.
 
Augie had two scorers in the 100 meter hurdles. Bobbi Jo Buyck was fourth with a time of 15.25 and Claire Severson took seventh in 15.99.
 
Megan Erspamer was eighth in the 400 meter hurdles, completing the race in 1:10.85.
 
Buyck was also eighth in the triple jump, leaping 35-06.75 feet.

The Vikings will be back at home next weekend as they participate in the Last Chance Meet on May 15.
