The Augustana track and field team qualified 10 student-athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship, the NCAA announced today. The 10 student-athletes, the highest season total ever from Augustana, will compete at the championship held May 27-29 in Charlotte, N.C.
Noel Bentele qualified in the women's hammer throw, while
Linn Nilsson and
Caitlin Polgreen each earned a spot in the women's 1500 meter run.
Augustana had four student-athletes qualify for the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Kyle Blakeslee and
Molly Clark will compete in the women's event, while
Travis Beniak and
Tom Karbo earned spots in the men's event.
Cecilie Udstuen qualified for the women's 800 meter event, while
Aduo Omot and
Brian Werner will compete in the men's 800.
“The Augustana track and field program is extremely excited and proud to announce our 2010 national qualifiers,” head coach
Tracy Hellman said. “To qualify 10 athletes for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship is a tremendous accomplishment. This special group of individuals is very deserving of this honor.”
