Three Augie Tracksters Earn All-American Honors

Augustana track & field had a successful final day Saturday at the NCAA Div. II Championships in Charlotte, N.C. The Vikings had three runners earn All-American honors while the team also broke three school records.

Augie's top finisher of the day was Tom Karbo, who placed fourth in the finals of the 3000 meter steeplechase. His time of 8:53.09 is an Augustana record and earned him All-American honors. Travis Beniak finished 9th in the race, posting a time of 9:09.87.

Caitlin Polgreen turned in another All-American performance for the Vikings in the 1500 meter run. She finished the race in 4:28.48, a new Augustana record and good enough for a sixth place finish.

Also earning a sixth place finish was Aduo Omot in the 800 meter run. His time of 1:49.98 made him Augie's third All-American of the day. Brian Werner finished the race in 1:54.17.

Cecilie Udstuen also set a new Augustana record in the 800 meter run. She finished in a time of 2:10.80 to earn 11th place.
