NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced that the Augustana men's track and field team is one of 34 programs from across the country to be honored as a 2010 Division II All-Academic team. As a team, the Vikings maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.19. The USTFCCCA requires a 3.0 team GPA to be an All-Academic team.
Slipper Rock (Pa.) posted the nation's highest cumulative GPA through the winter 2010 term with a 3.58.
Last week, the Augustana men's track and field team had two individuals named to the All-Academic team.
Travis Beniak and
Tom Karbo both earned individual honors.
With the selection of the men's team to All-Academic status, both of Augustana's track and field programs have earned the distinction for 2010; the women were tagged with the honor earlier this week.
