MEN'S RESULTS
MINNEAPOLIS - The Augustana men's cross country team won the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday in Minneapolis with a score of 60.
Matt Braithwaite was the top finisher for the Vikings, taking 12th with a time of 25:52. The Augustana women's team finished fifth with a score of 211. Augustana's
Kyle Blakeslee led the Vikings' women taking eighth with a time of 22:43.2.
Five other Vikings ran for the men's team, including
Travis Beniak who ran with a time of 25:57 to take 13th.
Daniel Black (15th) and Torstein Tengsreid (17th) posted times of 26:01 and 26:11, respectively.
Ryan Evans (26:28) finished in 23rd place and
Paul Yak (26:44) rounded off the men's lineup in 37th place.
"The men executed the race plan very well," said head coach
Tracy Hellman. "I am very pleased with the results considering this was our first race and held out a few key guys."
Augustana's women's team had six other runners besides Blakeslee at the invite.
Annie Pfeifle (44th) ran with a time of 24:02.2,
Courtney Rasmussen (53rd) posted a time of 24:10.3 and
Molly Kokesh (55th) finished in 24:10.5.
Kelsey Junget came in 63rd (24:18.1), while
Kelly Kougl finished 86th (24:32.5) and
Laura Johnson placed 214th (26:36.7).
"The women ran well without our full group," said Hellman. "This is a strong starting point, and I expect us to get better each week."
Augustana cross country will compete next at the Tim Young Open in Vermillion, S.D. on Oct. 1.
