Several South Dakota high school track and field athletes recorded personal bests at meets during the week of April 6.
Ivy Jaacks (Elkton/Lake Benton) ran 15.99 in the 100m hurdles at the Scott Underwood Invitational on April 6, improving from her previous best of 16.49. The mark ranks #24 in the state and #4 among sophomores, and set a school record for Elkton/Lake Benton. Jaacks also recorded a personal best of 47.86 in the 300m hurdles, down from 49.41.
Josh Mitchell (Deubrook Area) clocked 2:05.43 in the 800m at the Scott Underwood Invitational on April 6, dropping from his previous personal record of 2:11.63. The junior's time places him #22 in the state, and he finished third out of 66 competitors.
Westin Klippenstein (Hot Springs) ran 23.11 in the 200m at the Queen City Classic on April 10, improving from 24.21 set in May 2025. The time ranks #25 in the state and earned him sixth place out of 68 competitors. Klippenstein also set a personal best of 53.21 in the 400m, down from 56.79.
Landen Meyer (Rapid City Stevens) posted 23.07 in the 200m at the Queen City Classic on April 10, bettering his previous mark of 24.29. The time ranks #22 in the state and placed fifth out of 68 competitors.
Kaylie Theberge (Sturgis Brown) ran 12.67 in the 100m at the Queen City Classic on April 10, improving from 12.80. The time ranks #19 in the state and earned third place out of 77 competitors. Theberge also recorded a personal best of 25.94 in the 200m, down from 27.00.
Kaelyn Knudson (Douglas) clocked 13.07 in the 100m at the Queen City Classic on April 10, improving from 13.27. The time ranks #18 in the state and placed 15th out of 77 competitors. Knudson also set personal bests in the 200m (26.72, down from 27.03) and 400m (59.78, down from 1:00.04).
Reese Nida (Spearfish) cleared 12-3 in the pole vault at the Queen City Classic on April 10, improving from 12-1. The junior's mark ranks #4 in the state and #1 among juniors, set a school record for Spearfish, and earned second place out of 16 competitors.
