Several South Dakota high school athletes set personal records at meets during the week of April 13-16.
Bailey Dwight (Langford Area) ran 13.28 in the 100 meters at the South Dakota National Guard meet on April 16, improving from her previous best of 14.53 set in April 2025. The mark moves her to #68 among 923 athletes in South Dakota and earned first place among 34 competitors. Dwight also set a personal record in the long jump, improving from 13-4 to 15-8.5 at the same meet.
Brayden McCulley (Rapid City Central) clocked 11.67 in the 100 meters at the 2026 Spearfish JV Invite on April 14, dropping from his previous personal record of 12.35 set in March 2026. The sophomore ranks #108 in South Dakota and #11 among 232 sophomores statewide after placing seventh among 116 competitors.
Caleb Lara (Vermillion) threw 46-8 in the shot put at the West Central Invite on April 13, improving from his previous best of 39-11. The mark ranks #31 among 774 athletes in South Dakota and earned third place among 20 competitors.
Ellyse Pantekoek (Brandon Valley) ran 16.08 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Corn Palace Relays on April 16, improving from 16.94 set in April 2026. The freshman ranks #19 statewide and #1 among 62 freshmen after placing sixth among 27 competitors. Pantekoek also set a personal record in the 300-meter hurdles, improving from 49.69 to 49.06.
Josephine Cobbs (Aberdeen Central) clocked 12.86 in the 100 meters at the Corn Palace Relays on April 16, improving from her previous best of 13.22. The freshman ranks #26 among 923 athletes statewide and #1 among 270 freshmen after finishing fourth among 37 competitors.
