Several South Dakota high school track and field athletes posted personal records at meets during the week of April 20.
Tinsley Sorenson (Dakota Valley) cleared 5-2 in the high jump at the Canton Relays on April 20, improving from her previous best of 4-10 set in April 2026. The mark places her 11th among 223 athletes in South Dakota and earned her second place among seven competitors.
Connor Samco (Lyman) ran 11.47 in the 100 meters at the Charger Varsity Invite on April 21, dropping from his previous personal record of 11.95. The time ranks 75th of 1,360 athletes statewide and placed fifth of 54 competitors. Samco also set a personal record in the 400 meters, improving from 55.12 to 55.01.
Lawson Novy (Milbank) threw 50-7 in the shot put at the Watoma Relays on April 24, extending his previous best of 47-1. The sophomore ranks 11th of 857 athletes in South Dakota and first among 168 sophomores statewide, finishing second of 65 competitors.
Ivy Jaacks (Elkton/Lake Benton) ran 15.52 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Kiwanis Relays on April 21, improving from 15.99 set in April 2026. The school record performance ranks 15th of 260 athletes in the state and first among 44 sophomores, earning her the victory among four competitors.
Tavyn Tiedeman (Beresford) clocked 12.94 in the 100 meters at the Tea Area Invite on April 23, bettering her previous mark of 13.21 from April 2026. The senior ranks 52nd of 1,098 athletes statewide and 12th among 114 seniors, placing seventh of 35 competitors.
Jeremy Bockelman (Canton) ran 2:11.19 in the 800 meters at the Greenway Relays on April 24, dropping from his previous time of 2:22.20. The freshman ranks 107th of 695 athletes in South Dakota and seventh among 177 freshmen, winning the race among 24 competitors.
Dalton Moorhouse (Castlewood) posted 11.72 in the 100 meters at the Kiwanis Relays on April 21, improving from 11.97 set in April 2026. The freshman time ranks 149th of 1,360 athletes statewide and 14th among 391 freshmen, placing fifth of 36 competitors.
