South Dakotans welcomed the first week of May at a range of meets across the state, as athletes and coaches begin to shift their focus to the upcoming postseason.
Take a look at 10 of the many athletes who had solid performances over the weekend!
Top Performers:
Albrecht enjoyed one of the top all-around weekends in the state. At the Pat Gilligan Alumni Meet, the sophomore ran 11.17 in the 100m, 22.95 in the 200m, and 52.41 in the 400m, winning all three events.
Musser won the 200m in 25.42 and the 400m in 57.75 at the Dakota Valley Invite, then added a 19-3 in the long jump to take that event as well, proving she's one of the top overall athletes in the state.
Like Albrecht, Tracy swept the sprints. In his case, it was at the Rob Luecke Invitational, where he ran 11.23 in the 100m, 22.92 in the 200m, and 51.31 in the 400m.
DeCou won the 200m in 25.42 and ran 59.55 in the 400m at the Dakota Valley Invite, finishing third in the latter.
Oyen ran 15.15 in the 110mH and 41.48 in the 300mH at the Danielsen Relays, claiming both hurdles events in the same day.
At the Dakota Valley Invite, McCullough ran 2:16.34 in the 800m and 4:58.58 in the 1600m, taking the top spot in both distance events. McCullough is one of the favorites for the podium across both events for a reason!

Holt put up 40-11.75 in the shot put and 136-1 in the discus at the Pat Gilligan Alumni Meet, winning both throws events on the day.
Frederick's 54-3.5 in the shot put at the SF Metro Quad was over 10 feet clear of the field - a truly dominant outing for the junior.
Bergan ran 15.53 in the 100mH and 45.71 in the 300mH at the SF Metro Quad, finishing first in both hurdles events.
