Lauren Gregory Is Back in Form
Pre-season No. 19 Lauren Gregory won the Cherry Creek Invitational in 18:33 for 5K, which is right in line with her past performances at that meet. The senior at Fort Collins High School is the three-time Colorado state cross country champion and a two-time cross country All-American, but was unable to contend for post-season honors last fall due to an injury.
Gregory ran 18:46 at Cherry Creek in 2013, when she would go on to place seventh at NXN, and 18:23 at Cherry Creek in 2014, when she would ultimately place 11th at Foot Locker.
Alan Versaw of MileSplit Colorado reported that Gregory ran in trainers this weekend.
Of note: Gregory's younger brother, James, won the freshman/sophomore race handily in 17:24. He is in ninth grade.
