The Minnesota contingent competing in Sioux Falls last weekend had significant success in each race, and will send on a number of athletes to the 7th Annual NXN Nationals at Portland Meadows in Portland, OR on December 4, 2010.

2010 NXN Heartland Boys Champion - Tony Smoragiewicz

  Tamara Gorman, Rapid City Stevens High School freshman and Tony Smoragiewicz, Rapid City Central High School junior will advance to Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, December 4 after their performances at the Nike Heartland Cross Regional XC Championship Meet held on November 14 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Several other South Dakota athletes make notable performances.

Olympian Lopez Lamong was the featured speaker at the Nike Heartland pasta dinner. Lamong was a 2008 Olympian and the US Flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony in Beijing. He humbly shared his heart-wrenching life story and graciously signed autographs for the high school athletes scheduled to compete at tomorrow’s Nike Heartland Regional cross country meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dozens of South Dakota Harriers are entered in the Nike Heartland Regional meet on Sunday, November 14 at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the chance to compete at Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) on December 7, in Portland, Ore.
