Q&A with R.C. Stevens' Senior, Renae Dykstra.

What kind of shape are you in heading into this cross country season?

Pretty good, working on endurance

How did your track season go last spring? What were your best times, places or races?

Awesome, it was so much fun! The highlight of the season was winning the medley for the Stevens Raiders.

My best 400 is a 61, mile a 5:23, and 800 a 2:18.49.

What are your goals for this season on an individual level?

To place in the top 5 at the state XC meet.

What did your summer training look like?

Lots of easy runs, gradually increasing the mileage each week, some workouts, myrtle and gambetta.

Who do you see as the top individuals in the state (and class, AA, A or B)?

For sure my own teammate Tamara Gorman (AA) and also Tori Glazier  from Custer which is Class A.

What are your favorite workouts?

I like when we do speed workouts on the track, like when we run 1000s or 800s.

What is your favorite pre-race: Meal? Music? Routine?

My favorite meal before a race is a Turkey Tom sandwich from Jimmy Johns. For music anything really. I especially like Kid Cudi or Fergie. For routine, I like to stretch a lot and just get in the racing mindset.
