What kind of shape are you in heading into this cross country season?
I think I'm in really good shape. I've had some good workouts so far, and I've run pretty significant PRs on the courses we've run so far
How did your track season go last spring? What were your best times, places or races?
Last track season was kind of disappointing. I ran a 9:52 indoors for the first meet of the season, but then I developed a stress fracture and didn't run well the rest of the season.
What are your goals for this season on an individual level?
Top 4 at state
What did your summer training look like?
I was only able to start easing back into running in mid-June because of the stress fracture. My coach had me come back gradually, and I was still able to get in a month of solid training from mid-July to August.
Who do you see as the top individuals in the state (and class, AA, A or B)?
Addison DeHaven and Nathan Schroeder are the #1 and 2. I think Jacob Simmons, Justice Lamer, and Brice Cowman will be right up there as well for class AA.
What are your favorite workouts?
I love doing long intervals like mile repeats, and long runs.
What is your favorite pre-race: Meal? Music? Routine?
I usually have bagels for lunch, and then a banana or something light about 90 minutes before race time. I never listen to music. I'll usually start warming up with some jogging about an hour before the race, and then do form drills and strides about 20 minutes before.
Favorite music, bands?
I'm a huge fan of the Arctic Monkeys and Rush.
Favorite subject in school?
I play trumpet and snowboard in the winter.
