A dozen Minnesota teams will make their way to Decorah, IA today, and a few more are trekking to South Dakota. But it you want to see Emily Covert or the STMA girls, that's all taking place right here in Minnesota.
One of the teams that quietly had a very good meet this weekend was the Rock Canyon girls. Nina St. John and Shannon Osoba were a big part of that.

These are your Top 10 returning distance runners in the state of South Dakota this spring. The 800 Meters is loaded, with 9 girls returning that have run under 2:20. You had to run 5:17 just to make the Top 10 girls 1600 list. Headlining the list? Emily Person of Rapid City Stevens. She's at of near the top of every event (#1-3200; #2-1600 and #3-800) Now a couple of questions: Will Macy Heinz or Jasymne Cooper jump in a 3200m this season and show their stuff and what will Madison standout Hailey Streff have to say about cracking the 800 Meter list? SOUTH DAKOTA BOYS POWERHOUSE PROGRAMS :SPRINTS (100 Meters, 200 Meters and 400 Meters) This is a new series modeled after the MileSplit US Powerhouse Rankings. How does it work? The 50 best athletes in each classification of events: Sprints, Distance, Hurdles, Jumps and Throws are ranked in descending order, with 1st place receiving 50 points, 2nd place scoring 49 points and so forth. Team scoring is based on the sum of individual scores, just like in a normal track meet- except the South Dakota Powerhouse Rankings are scored 50 deep!

William Wonka is at it again- he predicted (well, not really a prediction, more of a calculation) the scores of the 2013 Class AA Girls State Track Meet based on last season's results that we have in our database. Don't see times or marks from your son, daughter, grandkid, buddy or rival? That just means we didn't receive meet results from that particular meet. The problem is easily solved, however, by sending ANY result from ANy YEAR to: firstname.lastname@example.org Thank You.
